Sliding floor element for passenger boarding bridges

Description

Adjustable sliding floor unit

In order to avoid high costs and downtimes, it is essential that no damage occurs to aircraft during docking with the passenger boarding bridge.

To ensure damage-free opening of the doors on large aircraft (e.g. A350/A380/B787), more space is needed in the cabin area of passenger boarding bridges than in the past

However, for many passenger boarding bridges, increasing the space available at this point is not possible because this would extend the overall length of the boarding bridge. With this added length, it might not be possible to maintain the required safety distances in the parking position for the passenger boarding bridge.

The standard length of the cabin floor in many passenger boarding bridges is approximately 840 mm. However, this length is not sufficient to open large aircraft doors without causing damage.

In its new Passenger Boarding Bridge Interface (PBBI), HÜBNER has developed an adaptable cabin floor unit with floor tilt correction and a flexible floor extension. With this new unit, the length of the cabin floor segment can be adjusted between 840 and 1000 mm, making it possible to maintain the safety distance in the parking position of the passenger boarding bridge. For docking operations, the floor can then be extended by up to 350 mm to the required length to accommodate the opening of even large aircraft doors. As a new member of the PBBI family, this design also provides the same safety benefits as HÜBNER’s soft-touch floor .

HÜBNER’s adjustable sliding floor unit for passenger boarding bridges can be installed on existing passenger boarding bridges as a retrofit solution and is also available as original equipment.

Perfect connection

The patented sliding floor system with its special mechanics ensures a perfect connection to the aircraft fuselage and additionally absorbs the movements of the aircraft during loading and unloading without losing contact with the aircraft or applying excessive pressure to the fuselage.

Keep the parking position

The retractable floor allows the cabin depth to be increased to handle aircraft doors that require extra space for opening.

At the same time, the original overall length of the passenger boarding bridge remains the same so that the parking position and standard distances can be maintained.

Safe from damage

The modified docking process with the HÜBNER Passenger Boarding Bridge Interface has been proven to reduce the frequency of damage caused to aircraft when docking with passenger boarding bridges.

Retrofitting

HÜBNER’s PBBI – Dual Floor Adjustment unit can be installed on almost all passenger boarding bridges. This is particularly useful in connection with a general upgrading of passenger boarding bridge equipment.
