The Australian Government has approved the 2014 Master Plan for Perth Airport in Australia, submitted by the airport operator Perth Airport Pty Ltd.

Perth Airport Pty Ltd has invested over AU$1bn (US$820m) in developing the airport over the last six years including 92 projects each valued at over AU$5m (US$4m). The latest Master Plan paves the way for significant developments over the next five years including a third runway and an airport rail link project. There are also designs for a new international pier. Federal law requires the operator to submit a 20-year Master Plan every five years.

Brad Geatches, CEO for Perth Airport, said, “The Master Plan describes Perth Airport’s land use and development plans for the next 20 years and beyond. With our redevelopment process in full swing, there was a high level of public interest in what the next stages of our airport development will be. We engaged openly with the community and key stakeholders and are committed to continuing that process.

“The Master Plan recognizes that the airport needs to develop integrated plans that complement Perth’s broader urban and infrastructure plans, and take into account the impact of airport development on surrounding communities and the environment.

“We are pleased that our Master Plan has been approved and we are looking forward to implementing our plans to deliver world-class facilities and services that all Western Australians will be proud of.”
