Perth Airport has partnered with local contractor Georgiou to deliver its first multi-storey car park.

Perth Airport CEO Jason Waters said that the project will contribute to the transformation of Airport Central and greatly improve access in the area.

“We are excited to announce our partnership with Georgiou and confirm that construction on our first multi-storey car park will commence in mid-2024.

“The first car park will be located on the western side of the existing Short Term car park, in front of Terminal 1, and will be linked to the Skybridge, providing a covered walkway to the terminal.   It will greatly increase parking capacity close to the terminals, which is what our customers are asking for.

“The project includes new dedicated pick-up and drop-off point for the terminals, replacing the current forecourt road, and significantly improves the way people access the airport by road.

“We will also be improving access and egress at Terminal 2 by realigning the road network as part of this project.

“The additional capacity is critical to supporting future growth of the aviation sector in Western Australia.

“Like any other major road works, there will be some short-term inconvenience during the construction phase however the long-term benefits for travellers, airline partners and businesses that use the airport, will be enormous.

“We expect the project to take up to three years to be completed,” continued Mr Waters.

Georgiou General Manager Steve Okill said, “Perth Airport is an important client for Georgiou, and we are delighted to be working with them to unlock their future expansion plans.

“This challenging multi-stakeholder project is at the Airport’s front door and connects to the Skybridge project that was completed in 2020. In addition to allowing us to continue our relationship with Perth Airport, it will showcase Georgiou’s expertise working in close proximity to critical infrastructure while maintaining operations of some of Western Australia’s most important assets.

“This is a significant project that enables us to leverage our self-perform capabilities for the delivery of large portions of the project,” said Mr Okill.

Features of the project include:

  • Six-levels
  • A range of parking products including hourly, overnight, premium, motorcycle, small charter vehicle (SCV) pick-up, ACROD parking, parents with prams and car rental parking.
  • A multi modal transport interchange (MMTI) on the ground floor will be used for all pick-up and drop-offs by the general public, rideshare, taxi and Long Term Car Park buses.
  • Closure of the current forecourt road (except for Emergency vehicles)
  • New wider, landscaped forecourt
  • Expansion of the current T2 Short Term Car Park including five EV charging bays
  • Reversal of the T2 forecourt
