Sign kits to Dubai
Dubai International Airport (DXB) has turned to AGL expert atg airports to assist in the development of its airfield equipment, with the selection of the atg LED retrofit kit for the upgrade of its existing airfield guidance signs.
Whilst currently the world's fifth busiest airport, Dubai International is also one of the fastest growing. With a ten year traffic forecast projecting annual increases in international passenger and cargo traffic of 7.2% and 6.7% respectively, the airport is embarking on a variety of expansion projects including the development and upgrade of much of the airfield infrastructure.
The kit was originally designed to fit atg's Clearway signs, however for this project they have been specially adapted to fit the existing signs installed at Dubai International (DXB). Airports currently utilising either tungsten halogen, fluorescent or cold cathode technology can now all experience the same lower power consumption and higher efficiency benefits of LED signs. The easy to install, 'plug and play' design will allow for seamless transition between existing and new installations without the need for any specialist tooling.
atg airports have been fundamental in the development of LED in airfield solutions and the success of the retrofit kit is another example of atg airports' ability to analyse a problem, develop a solution and deliver outstanding results. |
atg airports' 2012 training calendar is now available. Covering everything from an introduction to airfield lighting through to specialist courses for CCR maintenance, MCS support or AGL design, atg airports offer programmes designed to help improve all aspects of airfield lighting operation.
atg also understand the benefit of familiarity when working in an environment with restrictive timescales. We design bespoke training courses specifically for a customers, conduct the training on site at the airport and provide the airport engineers with training on the equipment they will regularly use.

atg launch POLARIS system
atg's new POLARIS portable lighting system is the latest in airfield lighting solutions. It is designed to provide temporary or semi-permanent lighting to allow aircrafts or helicopters to land on grass strips, frozen lakes, roadways, or as emergency runway lighting at major airports. A convenient and fully transportable system, POLARIS is designed for a variety of applications including maintaining runway, taxiway or helipad operations during construction works or as a replacement for an unavailable airfield lighting system.
With power consumption of, as low as, 3W for the red units and 1W for all other applications, POLARIS’s LED technology significantly increase the overall run time of the units between charges whilst reducing the impact on the personnel responsible for the system on site. POLARIS is available with a trailer mounted charging system, providing a secure storage solution for the lights when not in use. The trailer also provides a flexible but compact charging station that is suitable for transportation by L-100 or similar sized cargo aircraft without disassembly and can be adapted to suit vehicle towing requirements. It is also certified for on-road use and is compliant with the all necessary standards for military trailers including braking system, lighting, hooks, etc.
"The introduction of the POLARIS system is a valuable addition to atg's existing portfolio," says Andy Sole, Director of Strategic Development. "Following the development of a variety of LED based lighting solutions and coupled with atg’s vast experience within the industry, a portable LED system is a natural progression for the company. The introduction of the PEARL system in 2010 has helped atg airports to push on into new markets and we feel the benefits offered by the POLARIS system will continue that trend over the coming years." |
