This £52.4 million transformation of RAF St. Mawgan Airbase to Newquay Cornwall Airport was the first time a changeover of this kind has been attempted from military to civilian use in the UK.
The success of the project was due to the close working relationship that HAURATON established with the MoD, Royal Air Force, Cornwall Council, Cornwall Airport Limited, the Civil Airport Authority and the contractors involved in this project, to provide both technical and commercial support during the project.
During construction stage, 300 metres of RECYFIX HICAP 1200 Slot Channel was installed in the airport’s taxiways and hard-standing areas located in front of the terminal building.
Manufactured from recycled modified polypropylene, RECYFIX HICAP 1200 Slot Channel units weighed only 13.2kg / metre, allowing quick and easy handling and installation on site.
Strong and durable when installed, the RECYFIX HICAP Slot Channel system can withstand F 900 ‘ultra-heavy-duty’ loads and dynamic forces apparent within airside areas of busy airports.
