  • Malaysia Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (ARCC) to enhance rescue communication speed and reliability across six key sites
  • The new IP-centric system ensures real-time, efficient, and reliable communications for aeronautical rescue operations

Malaysia ARCC, in partnership with Mesiniaga Berhad, a leading Malaysian IT solutions provider, has successfully implemented the Frequentis Liberty-STAR IV voice communication system (VCS). The cutting-edge system, now operational across six ARCC sites, significantly enhances the speed and reliability of aeronautical rescue communications, marking a key milestone in the region’s rescue technology.

Frequentis Canada has played a key role in the project, providing the delivery, installation, and commissioning of the Liberty-STAR IV VCS and recorders at six critical locations: Subang, Kota Kinabalu, Miri, Kuching, Tawau, and Kuala Terengganu. This installation represents the debut of the latest Liberty-STAR IV VCS model in Malaysia and the first deployment within an Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre, setting a new standard for rescue communication systems in Southeast Asia.

The upgraded solution is renowned for its reliability and advanced features, having also been installed in the United States and Jamaica. Its IP-centric design ensures future-proofing, making it a sustainable investment for critical communication needs.

“I’m thrilled to have collaborated on this project with Malaysia ARCC and Mesiniaga Berhad. Implementing the Liberty-STAR IV VCS not only enhances efficiency but also underscores our dedication to delivering innovative technologies that make a tangible difference in saving lives,” says Gerald Mohnl, Frequentis Director ATM Communication.

Each site is equipped with two controller working positions and two management terminals, managed by a central system for robust communications. Seven internet-based interfaces and a versatile gateway facilitate smooth voice communications, and advanced recording ensures thorough communication logging. This latest solution model boosts ARCC’s efficiency with faster, more reliable communications for vital rescue operations.

“The deployment of Frequentis’ Liberty-STAR IV VCS at our ARCC sites is a significant advancement in our communication capabilities. The system’s reliability and speed are crucial for our operations, and we are confident that this upgrade will significantly enhance our response times and coordination efficiency,” says Remyizam Mohd Mahadzir, General Manager, Mesiniaga Berhad.
